This is my professional page. This means here you will find information about what I do as a professor and researcher in theoretical physics. In case you are not interested in that, you can always click the “x” in your browser window, or go find something more interesting to read.

In case you’re still here: I am a theoretical physicist trained at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul in the city of  Porto Alegre, south of Brazil. Since 2005 I live in the huge “concrete forest” which is São Paulo. Currently, I am an associate professor at the Universidade Federal do ABC – UFABC.

This “ABC University” might suggest some kind of advanced kindergarten school, but actually the name comes from the “ABC Region”, composed of several different cities adjacent to São Paulo, where industrialisation in Brazil started: the most known cities in this region are Santo André, São Bernardo do Campo and São Caetano do Sul, hence the “ABC”.

UFABC is a new university, build from ground up since 2006, and already considered one of the best research university in Brazil, mainly in the STEM areas.

My field of expertise is quantum field theory, but I also am interested in topics related to gravity, string theory and mathematical physics.

My most reliable CV is the currículo Lattes, which is a Brazilian national system of scientific curricula. INSPIRE is a service for articles and references search specific for the field of high energy physics, and it keeps a very good track of my publications. Google Scholar makes an automatic and very updated list of publications, but sometimes it can bring up false information, which I can take some time to notice and correct. ResearcherID and Orcid are very reliable, but not so updated.

My travels around the world, and some photographic experiences, are presented in my Instagram and my Flickr account.

Videos

Introdução à Quantização de Campos: o Campo Escalar

A set of seven lectures (in Portuguese) with an introduction to quantum field theory, using the scalar field as a prototype. Part of the III Theoretical School of the DFMA-IF-USP, in 2010.

Forças, Campos, Interações – de Newton às Interações Elementares da Natureza

Introductory talk for the general public about the notion of forces and elementary interactions, part of the “Convite à Física” (Invitation to Physics) program at IF-USP.

Research

My field of expertise is quantum field theory, but I also am interested in topics related to gravity, string theory and mathematical physics. Specific topics I’ve worked with include: renormalisation group, supersymmetry, noncommutative field theories, Lorentz violation, symmetry breaking, among others.

My most reliable CV is the currículo Lattes, which is a Brazilian national system of scientific curricula.

INSPIRE is a service for articles and references search specific for the field of high energy physics, and it keeps a very good track of my publications.

Google Scholar makes an automatic and very updated list, but sometimes it can bring up false information, which I can take some time to notice and correct. ResearcherID and Orcid are very reliable, but not so updated.
