RESUMO: O somatótipo é uma teoria da técnica de classificação corporal. Ela foi desenvolvida inicialmente em 1940, pelo psicologista estadunidense William Herbert Sheldon, que dividiu a estrutura física do ser humano em três condições diferenciadas: Endomorfia (adiposidade), Mesomorfia (muscularidade) e Ectomorfia (magreza), definindo determinadas características físicas que as diferenciam entre si. A partir do trabalho dos pesquisadores Sheldon , Heath & Carter desenvolveram um novo modelo para avaliação do somatotipo, que pode ser empregado tanto em homens quanto em mulheres e prevê a utilização de um formulário específico (somatocartas), uma somatocarta é a representação gráfica de um somatotipo. Viabilizar sua determinação de forma automática, com base na leitura de um scanner 3d antropométrico, é o referido escopo do presente trabalho.

ABSTRACT: The somatotype is a theory of body classification technique. It was developed initially in 1940, by the American psychologist William Herbert Sheldon, who divided the physical structure of the human being into three different conditions: Endomorphy (adiposity), Mesomorphy (muscularity) and Ectomorphy (thinness), defining certain physical characteristics that differentiate them from each other. From the work of Researchers Sheldon, Heath & Carter have developed a new model for evaluating of the somatotype, which can be used in both men and women and predicts the use of a specific form (somatocharts), a somatochart is the graphic representation of a somatotype. Enable your form determination automatic, based on the reading of an anthropometric 3D scanner, is the aforementioned scope of the present work.
